Abstract

The Minnesota Journal of Law, Science & Technology hosted its 2nd Annual Symposium on March 4, 2016. The symposium discusses legal implications surrounding the rapidly developing technology of additive manufacturing, also known as 3D printing.

The symposium features a keynote address by Former General Counsel of Stratasys, Candice Ciresi, and three symposium panels dedicated to the topics of intellectual property law, regulatory and policy issues, and products liability.

Today, body parts, pharmaceutical drugs, guns, food, and more can be printed in a matter of hours with the help of 3D printing. While 3D printing is efficient, cost effective, and waste-reducing, it presents legal challenges ranging from intellectual property to products liability issues.
