Abstract

The Minnesota Chapter of the FBA Diversity Committee and the FBA University of Minnesota Law School Student Division were pleased to host an esteemed panel of speakers to discuss the topic of sex trafficking of people with disabilities from a national and state perspective. The panel included: Staff Attorney Sarah Bessell for the D.C. Human Trafficking Pro Bono Center; Ramsey County Attorney John Choi; U.S. District Judge Donovan Frank (moderator); Assistant U.S. Attorney Tracey Perzel; and Victim Advocate Abigail Sterner. The diverse panel shared their personal experiences, examined the history and evolving legal landscape of sex trafficking, and discussed legal rights of victims, remedies, victim advocacy, and prevention. A video featuring U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar, discussing her views on the subject, was also presented.
