Abstract

February 15, 2018 Panel discussion about industrialized factory farming in Minnesota and other states and the various ways that these farming practices impact ours lives and communities. The ethical impact on animals is discussed by philosophy professor Jeff Johnson, the environmental impact by environmental attorney Tim Culver '16 and the social and community impact on small towns and rural communities by Chris Peterson--a pig farmer and advocate of animal husbandry who has seen the devastating impact of factory farming in his home state of Iowa--and by Sonja Trom Eayers, farmer's daughter and attorney whose family has been impacted by feed lots in Dodge County, Minnesota.
